Liminal Crave: tasting is believing, 2025 | hematite, iron, sea urchin spines ~1m x 1,5m

The work functions as a transitional space where past and present, reality and reconstruction, coexist fluidly. The materials establish a dynamic interplay of dualities and contrasts, centering on memory as both a sensory and material experience. Iron, a fully processed industrial product, mimics the texture of fleece, highlighting the tension between loss and preservation while underscoring how memory transforms over time.

 

Simultaneously, it assumes the role of prey, which contrasts with the wolf’s mouth—an emblematic predator. Similarly, hematite, a primary mineral from which iron derivatives are produced, is shaped into a mouth that evokes both the potential for attack and the act of tasting. This connection links memory to the body and the sensory experience, suggesting that remembrance is not merely a mental process but something physically felt. The sea urchin’s spines further reinforce the work’s liminal nature, embodying a material that is at once sharp and fragile.
