Skinoma consists of thin sections of olive wood carved almost to translucency and suspended at different heights in relation to the human body.The title draws on the Greek σκήνωμα, a term used in Orthodox tradition for the bodily remains of a saint, understood as a sacred physical presence after death.
Cracks, openings and irregularities produced through carving are retained, while light passing through the wood reveals its grain and internal structure. Suspended together, the fragments suggest the remains or traces of a body without resolving into one.
